Nicaragua
is one of the world's last remaining destinations where being a visitor
in a native's home or workplace, is an un-staged event, a planned but natural
encounter. This trip is for those whose principle interest in visiting
is to know the Nicaraguan people, in their home and work place, in their
reality. To facilitate our entrance into their lives we focus on Nicaragua's
talented artisans, who are a bit more open than the average family to having
foreign visitors in their home, which often doubles as a workshop. Though
interest in their beautiful hand made crafts is always a bonus, the real
focus of this trip is to get to know the Nicaraguan people, their hopes
and dreams, problems and victories, both on a personal and societal level.
This trip is reserved for visitors who have a sincere interest in culture
at its roots and deep respect for all people regardless of their socio-economic
class. Most of the people we meet live in quite humble material circumstances,
but most visitors will agree that they enjoy a distinctly human wealth
that few societies can rival.
