Featured Hotels For
Tours Nicaragua

Tours Nicaragua offers only the best hotels in Nicaragua. In Managua, San Juan del Sur and Granada we have a limited variety of choices which meet our clients’ standards, but outside of these three cities we use only the best existing hotel option in each locale. It is important to note that Nicaragua's current level of hotel infrastructure does not allow for a great breadth of quality options and most of the good hotels are of small size. This means space is at a premium for the Tours Nicaragua traveler, a customer that looks for quality, comfort and character. Unlike many tour outfitters in Nicaragua and the region, Tours Nicaragua would prefer to not offer a tour, rather than put one of our customers in a hotel that is not up to standards. For Tours Nicaragua the key is not luxury, but a minimum standard of quality and comfort, and unique character. In some of Nicaragua’s smaller villages or rural areas used in our political history, nature and cultural tours the lodges are quite simple, but always with private bath, clean and friendly. Below are some examples of the hotels we use. This list is not exhaustive, but will help to reference which properties we use most for our guests. We welcome questions on these hotels and others that may appear in your itinerary. Though Nicaragua’s hotels are not normally a reason to visit Nicaragua, most visitors find many of them unique, pleasant and very human, a welcome change from many of the parade of faceless hotels that populate our world’s travel destinations.

LEÓN

Hotel El Convento, connected to the historical San Francisco church two blocks from the cathedral and central park, this could be Nicaragua's most beautiful hotel. A ground-up restoration of the 17th century Convent of San Francisco, this charming hotel has 31 quality rooms around a gorgeous traditional interior garden and is decorated with antiques made in Nicaragua and Peru (made from imported Nicaraguan wood). The rooms all have A/C, private bath with hot water, cable TV and direct phones. The hotel has two restaurants both with view of the garden and features homemade ice cream from Nicaragua's tropical fruits. León's best hotel.

GRANADA

Hotel Plaza Colón, located right on central park, this classic ground-up restoration of a colonial home is our favorite. It features spacious, understated rooms with quality furnishings. Often difficult to find space in popular months, but well worth booking in advance. The most desirable rooms for those who like to watch Nicaraguan life are the balcony rooms on the park, while interior rooms tend to be quieter if that be your priority. Each room has private bath, A/C, telephone, cable TV, swimming pool. Breakfast is served at an adjoining street-side café.

Hotel Patio del Malinche, 2 ½ blocks from central park, this family run hotel is one of the colonial town’s newest and most pleasant mid-priced lodging options. The interior of the hotel is divided into two open-air gardens, one with a swimming pool and the other used for the hotels fine home cooked breakfasts. All rooms have private bath, A/C, telephone, cable TV and wireless internet. The decor of the hotel is classic Spanish colonial, very understated and clean. Rooms are not spacious, but well appointed and the hotel locale is a fine compromise between being close to the center and also being very quiet and peaceful. The Spanish couple which owns and operates the hotel treats our customers like they are guests in their home.

Hotel Colonial, located a half-block from central park, this 27 room hotel is a ground-up restoration of a classic colonial home. The hotel has a great deal of charm with many colonial Nicaraguan touches. The hotel's high quality rooms are decorated with traditional Nicaraguan art and use four-post beds. Each room has private bath, A/C, telephone, cable TV, swimming pool. The hotel restaurant is for breakfast only. This is very comfortable and charming hotel.

Hotel La Gran Francia, located just off central park, this 15 room hotel is a ground-up restoration of a classic colonial home. The hotel has a great deal of charm with many colonial Nicaraguan touches. We feature the hotel's Jr. suites which all have big wooden colonial doors that open out onto balconies with a view to the Cathedral. These top quality rooms are decorated with traditional Nicaraguan art. Each room has private bath, A/C, telephone, cable TV, swimming pool. OMETEPE ISLAND, LAKE NICARAGUA

Hotel Villa Paraiso, located above the Santo Domingo beach on the isthmus between the two volcanoes that make up the island. Truly a paradisiacal location with a year-round breeze off the great lake, many exotic plants and outdoor beach and lake view eating in thatched huts. Rooms are simple bungalows made of wood and brick with private bath and surrounded by lush gardens. The complex has 12 cabañas, private bath, A/C and a full menu restaurant. Three hotel cabins have heated showers (these are called “suites” by the hotels, though we find this an exaggeration, they are the best cabins on the island) and that is what we always reserve for our customers. If one of these “suites” is not available we will offer a cabin with unheated water if you wish. Ometepe Island's best hotel with the best location.
